Mesmerizing!
From the outset we were convinced this night was cursed (maybe some voodoo at work here), original line was OXP+Don’t Tread on Spiders + Fire Season. Firstly – Fire Season pulled out so we added Redwing to the bill, next – Don’t tread on Spiders pulled out and we added Naughty Thoughts to the bill, lastly – Redwing pulled out last minute and final line up was OXP & Naughty Thoughts, glad that was all sorted out, phew!!
On first were Naughty Thoughts, a 3 piece band of local lads, these guys are proof of seeing is believing. They play with no effort, graceful playing, jamming in between songs and blasting out some fantastic original songs like a breath of fresh air. The style is funky, grungy, rock with amazing guitar solos, these guys are super talented and as a band play very well together indeed, very tight knit songs well constructed. Entertaining everyone with songs “Running on Empty” and their rendition of “Voodoo Chile”, you must catch these guys live, we will be having these guys back soon, in the meantime click here to check out their myspace.
OXP- all the way from France, took to the stage, these guys just throw you back to Hendrix days, jamming during tune up, jamming in between songs the music never stopped flowing from start to end. Playing songs with crazy guitar solos from frontman Lance just reminds us of big live rock bands from the 70’s, amazing. Thanks to Naughty Thoughts for loaning their guitar and bass to the band after some technical issues (broken bass and broken strings). We could have listened and watched this band perform all night, they also performed our new favourite song “Save those flames”, this is one band to watch and also see live . Check out their myspace here.
Thanks to everyone for coming and to the bands for performing, also a big thanks to Kaiya Collins for the photography and Danica and Kaiya for helping out on the evening, cheers.
