Kill it with Fire, Purple Thursday and This Isn’t Hollywood at The Green Rooms
The Marvelous guys from Kill it with Fire stepped in a the last minute and did an excellent job. As always their upbeat sound which can only be summed up as awesomely punky with melodic overtones did the trick, its hard to believe that they are only on their second gig, they seem to have lots more gigs in the pipeline and I’m sure they’ll blow everyone away- They are full of energy, a delight to watch and thoroughly nice guys! Check out their facebook site here and catch them live if you can!
Purple Thursday then stole the show with their catchy pop-punk tunes with a heavy rocky edge. An amazing band who are talented and well versed at playing live like pros. They write catchy songs that get lodged in your brain (like Adore and Only time will tell -both on their myspace). For a young band they are expressing themselves well through excellent songwriting and onstage presence, they finished up with their rocky versions of a medley of “Sweet Home Alabama” & “Summer of 69″, Check them out on their myspace page here!
Finishing in the night were This Isn’t Hollywood, a nice group of lads (and a lady!) from Newport. With an incredibly polished myspace site and nicely recorded tunes, these guys are inexperienced at playing live but nevertheless gave it some and with great enthusiasm, although they gave a short set. The lead vocalist has certainly got a voice and a pair of lungs on her and belted out tunes such as Liar and So called City. Check them out on their myspace here
